Email: milesbl@dcvg-cn.com Office: 104C, School of Business, PearsonsI teach several courses within the School of Business, primarily focusing on Corporate Finance, Financial Accounting, and Personal Finance topics. I am passionate about introducing potential Finance minor students to complex topics as well as educating all students on Personal Finance topics to better their lives.
Before arriving at Beloit College, I earned an undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics from UW-La Crosse and a Masters of Finance degree from Washington University in St. Louis. I worked in St. Louis for several years for Edward Jones serving as a portfolio manager. After leaving St. Louis for Wisconsin, I worked with Robert W. Baird as a financial advisor before beginning my own financial consultancy firm, Callanish Financial Consulting. I believe it’s important to actively be involved in the business world if I am to effectively teach students and continue to expand Callanish today. Before Beloit, I taught 8 years of Finance and Business at Janesville Craig High School, where I developed a passion for working with young people and helping them learn how to succeed financially.
I am originally from Monroe, WI which is 45 minutes west of Beloit. I am married and we frequently host exchange students from other countries. I enjoy traveling, especially internationally, athletics, and going to events. I also serve as a Cross Country and Track and Field coach.
