Isabel Celata is a teacher, performer, and scholar based in the Madison, Wisconsin area.
As a teacher, Isabel is passionate about helping her students develop their own unique literal and metaphorical voices. She has a strong background in vocal pedagogy and is passionate about vocal cross-training. In addition to her studio at Beloit, Isabel is an adjunct instructor of voice at Ripon College and maintains a private studio in Madison, Wisconsin.
As a performer, Isabel is known for her cross-genre performances and passion for communicating with audiences. She has been seen in a wide range of roles, from Kate Monster in Avenue Q to Krysia in Two Remain: Out of Darkness. She is especially proud of her performances in new operatic works. She debuted the role of Elva in Scott Gendel’s opera Everlasting Faint (World Premiere) and performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra as Mrs. Dascomb in selections from Bill Banford’s Edmonia. Isabel is also active on the concert stage, appearing as a featured soloist in the world premiere of the orchestrated version of December Songs with the Middleton Community Orchestra in 2024.
Isabel is also an active researcher in the fields of vocal pedagogy and musicology. Her ongoing voice dissertation is entitled, “The Pedagogical Advantages of Cross-Training the Voice: Using Musical Theatre to Advance the Technique of Classical Singers.”
Isabel is currently finishing her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Musicology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (A.B.D.), where she studies under Dr. Julia Rottmayer. Previously, she received a Bachelors of Art in Music from Rhodes College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Memphis.
